XR = xtra rad. Early 2024, I started to get the itch to get a new bike. I’ve been riding my carbon fiber Specialized Roubaix for almost 9 years and I wanted something different. I wanted wide tires and wide gearing with clutch. I wanted hydraulic disc brakes and tubeless tires. I wanted it to be not carbon and be able to go bike camping. I looked at a large number of gravel bikes and compared geometries. It took me 6 weeks before I settled on this bike. The deciding factor on this bike was the geometry. Progressive gravel geo that mimics modern trail bikes with slack head tube angles (67.5 degrees) and longer reach with short stem. The short chainstays (425mm) can fit up to 29x2.0 or 700x50. There’s only one other bike on the market like it and it’s the carbon Evil Chamois Hagar that costs almost twice as much for just the frame.

Current Stage Info:
I modded the rear derailleur with a Shimano XT M8000 cages so it can accommodate a 11-51 cassette. It’s a straight mullet set up.
I also upgraded the wheels and tires. I have the space for 700x50 and I will use it.
