I understand, qwixoticle. If I could find a 10sp Centaur UT in compact, silver or black, I’d probably do it. I thought the only 10-sp compacts Centaurs were square taper. I had one in the grey tone (I sure wish I still had that group!)

Record/Velocity wheels will be here in two weeks. Progress. As far as cranksets, was there an early 11-sp Campy crankset in compact and silver? That would seem to be the best, but I'm also thinking of a 10-sp Centaur compact... along with a Stronglight Pulsion I have in a box. Your opinion?

I have run 10sp Centaur compact UltraTorque crankset with 8sp, 10sp and 11sp. I especially like how it looks stripped of logos and polished. Would definitely recommend for this build! I personally just can't stand the look of the Potenza cranks.

nice bike. just wondering about the modern crankset/frame shifting combo? also imo the sciroccos doesnt fit the frameset well.

Great minds must think alike. 1. The shifting is really good. The 11-sp crankset doesn't care what the L shifter does, as it's not indexed. 2. I bought a set of Record hubs (black) laced with stainless spokes to black Velocity A23's with brake tracks. When they get here, they get swapped in and the bike can go back to looking right. 3. I actually mounted some black Super Record 11 components, and they looked horrible. 4. Adding some bling/polish back in will complete the look a lot better.

Thinking about an FSA/Colnago carbon 10Scrankset, compact with 50/34 rings. Would be a bit lighter, but not sure on the look. Already have it, so no biggie either way...
