Kochlik Track 1976

Track frame, made by East German frambuilder Hans Kochlik in 1976 with some lovely details and the original paintjob. The development of the Diamant track and road bikes was practically completed in the 1960s and so the models were no longer considered to be internationally competitive. That is why the separate development and production of exceptional bikes began in the second half of the 1970s. These were initially created according to the ideas of Wolfgang Taubmann from the Scientific Centre of the University of Physical Education and Sport in Leipzig/GDR and the engineer Paul Rinkowski. Using his excellent frame building skills, Hans Kochlik translated the ideas of Taubmann and Rinkowski into actual frames. After a period of time, Kochlik was no longer able to produce all frames for the GDR national squad, and so Christian Pyttel joined Kochlik as frame builder in late 1975. However, this support was insufficient, which is why the GDR Sports Administration set up a specific development and research center in Karl-Marx-Stadt, which is better known today as "Textima".
