1990 Specialized Allez Epic 58cm

Really nice early carbon frame technology. The same frame was sold with Shimano Dura Ace, Shimano 600, or Shimano 105. This started as as a 105 bike. I took it down to bare frame and brought it back with completely different components and fork.

Frame:
Carbon fiber tubes bonded to aluminum lugs, stainless drop outs. 58cm

Fork/Headset:
Kinesis Carbon/Velo Orange sealed

Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
Specialized triple/Velo Orange sealed

Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
Shimano 8 speed SIS/11-28/52-42-28

Derailleurs/Shifters:
Shimano Ultegra RD-6500 GS rear FD-6603 front /Shimano 8 speed

Handlebars/Stem:
Nitto

Saddle/Seatpost:
Specialized/American Classic

Brakes:
Shimano Dura Ace 7402

Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
DT/DT/Vittoria Rubino Pro 700-25

Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
DT/DT/Vittoria Rubino Pro 700-25

More Info:
I really like the look of the carbon tubes contrasting with the very nice aluminum lugs. This old man needed different gearing to get over the mountains; hence the triple gearing. I re-spaced the rear axle to 126mm and it still has sufficient room for the 8 speed cogs. I did not like the JIS 27.0 crown race found on the original fork so I replaced the fork with a new Kinesis carbon fork. The carbon fork was two ounces heavier but added a nice complimentary look. This bike is a great ride.

Thanks! The Allez Epic was designed by Specialized but manufactured for Specialized by Giant. Therefore the resemblance is fitting.
