This is a 1980s Cyclops-painted Vini Racing Bicycle. This bike is jam packed with history: Dave Viney and Rees Bateman built Vini frames in Marmora, Ontario in the seventies. Unfortunately his frame shop, situated in an old cheese factory, burnt down in the early eighties. I picked up this Vini, from the original owner who claimed he was friends with Dave back in the 1980s. The owner told me some things that he remembered from the past about Vini. He told me that there were only about 100 Vini's ever made due to the fire in their shop, they stopped making bikes. He told me that Dave never had a paint booth so he outsourced all the painting of bikes, mainly to Mike Mulholland of Cyclops. Finally, He told me that after his shop burnt down, Dave actually went to work for Cyclops to build frames.
